Fuasi Abdul-Khaliq kehrt mit Journey To The Source in das A-Trane zurück.
Fuasi Abdul-Khaliq « Journey To The Source » Back Again By Popular Demand FEAT : Rolf Zielke-Maximilian Hughes-Kenny Martin\n\n« Journey To The Source returns once again to the A-Trane Jazz Club by a big popular demand, bringing their again unmistakable sound back to a place, that feels like home. We are very happy to open up the concert season for this club as the first concert on 2027! This evening’s performance promises a journey through original compositions and inspired improvisations—music that reaches backward into tradition while stretching forward into the unknown » Fuasi Abdul Khaliq\n\nA living conversation: A searching spirit. A source still flowing. For over three decades, Journey To The Source (formally Fuasi and Ensemble) has been carving out its own unmistakable path through the European jazz landscape. Founded in 1995 by Berlin-based saxophonist, composer, and bandleader Fuasi Abdul-Khaliq, this enduring quartet has performed across Germany, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, Portugal, and France, building a reputation for music that is both deeply rooted and fearlessly exploratory. Their sound is immediately recognizable—an organic blend of Blues, Hard Bop, African and Far Eastern influences, spiritual undertones, funk grooves, and the open language of modern improvisation. What emerges is music of soul and substance: rhythmically alive, emotionally rich, and charged with the spirit of collective storytelling. At the center of the ensemble stands Fuasi Abdul-Khaliq, recently honored with the prestigious Deutscher Jazzpreis (Live Act of the Year 2026)—one of Germany’s highest recognitions in jazz. This award reflects not only his decades-long artistic vision, but also the profound contribution he and his ensembles have made to the Berlin jazz community and the wider German jazz scene. Over the years, Journey To The Source has released several acclaimed recordings, including Fuasi & Ensemble, Fuasimodo Rings a Bell, Live at Café Central (Madrid), The Afro-Cubano Latin Jazz Connection, The Abakua, and their latest self-titled studio release, Journey To The Source.
